Poetry Is Not a Luxury Series

The Poetry is Not a Luxury Series for women-identifying writers are poem & prompt classes that meet 1-3 times to look at a specific topic as it is explored in the work of contemporary women poets.

Taking its name from the Audre Lorde essay, Poetry is Not a Luxury is run very similarly to the six-week SOBI workshops, but is meant to allow more people who may not be able to commit to a longer workshop the chance to dip into the experience.

The next Poetry is Not a Luxury workshop will focus on the theme of THE BODY and will look at poems by Ada Limón, Natalie Diaz, and Leila Chatti that take on ideas around objectification, societal taboos, and sensuality. Wednesdays, April 6 & 13, 7-9pm EDT. (Contact me if you’d like to be part of a May group.) Cost: $60 payable by check, Paypal, or Venmo (@kathrynpetruccelli). Write me at montereybound AT gmail DOT com to register.
